Framed by Nature – Embraced by Fall

Wandering through the woods, surrounded by lush fall colors as far as the eye can see. The season brings out textures and tones unique to this time of year. The air, the temperature, and the mood all feel more like autumn than ever before. She wanders through the forest for what seems like an eternity, searching for something perhaps?

The light is perfect, constant, seemingly warm and unending. She moves through the woods slowly, enjoying each moment and the pure beauty of the surroundings. The sounds of nature echo for miles; the chirping of birds and chatter of squirrels. Friendly insects whirring overhead. The soft crunch of leaf underfoot as she makes her way through the scene slowly approaching the heart of the forest.

The only remnant of a world long past is the golden portrait frame she's brought with her. Heavy, hand carved wood adorned with a final coat of gold leaf echoing back to the craftsmanship of another era. Something about the scene feels right; the timing is perfect and the forest exquisite.

Her journey nears its end as she ventures deeper in the woods. All sound and memory of civilization has been drowned out by the perfection of this single fall afternoon. She has escaped the steady insanity of the cities and feels at home here in the forest.

The forest welcomes her with each step, sensing that she belongs. Her cherished keepsake, the golden frame, melding into the colors of the background. With each step now she becomes more at one with the surroundings. This perfect fall afternoon slowly shifting to evening, the air cooling ever so slightly. She's so close now to the forest's heart. . .not knowing what she'll find, there is a great sense of peace.

Just around the corner now, she's welcomed by the woods and embraced by the fall season itself. It's here now, the end of the journey. The very heartbeat of fall, inviting all who should persist to find it. Nature, magic, hope, and peace all in harmony with the spirit of the earth.

Thanks for reading folks, this was a bit of a new venture for me. I tried to come up with a simple fun little story that might accompany the images. Something easy, maybe a bit mysterious, with hopefully a slight sense of wonder. Not a novel, not a short story, just a little something extra. These images were such a blast to create, I couldn't be happier with how they turned out and I wanted to write up something new rather than just a recap of the shoot. Gorgeous images, good times with good people, and a fun little story to wrap it all up. Thanks again for reading <3

Release the Butterflies Part One

Any opportunity to work with a unique and fun prop or accessory to help style a shoot is an opportunity that I'm always up for. Recently I had the pleasure of working with a few different butterfly-style crowns and head pieces that were such a blast to incorporate into the images. The perfect end to the summer season, with the weather still warm and green colors still vibrant, these were the perfect accessory to capture a bit of the fun summer season with.

These pieces are gorgeous in color and amazing in quality. Each crown is sturdy, bright, and perfectly textured for a bit of a fantasy flair addition to the images. Pastel pink? Yup. Bright baby blue? Yes! Classic monarch butterfly orange? Of course. With life-like flexible butterfly pieces each crown is easy to stylize according to the needs of each shoot. You're only limited by your imagination when working with accessories like these.

As I've written before, I think that Etsy is such a great place for artists and crafters to connect and work with each other. I found these pieces while scrolling the site earlier this summer and they immediately caught my eye. The pairing of a casual summer dress or something just a smidge more fancy on a warm day just makes perfect sense. How about a forest spirit or dryad? Really pushing the fantasy scene to the limits.

Imagine a scenic picnic on the last of the warm days this year. Grassy fields extending for miles towards the foothills, sunlight creating beautiful flare and in every direction. Sitting on the warm grass, remembering the summer season surrounded by thoughts of butterflies floating through the air. A genuine scene full of color and dreams.

If you like what you see, check out the links below and you'll find the Etsy shop where you can get your hands on crowns just like these ones. If a fall shoot with one of these pieces sounds like something you'd like to be a part of (the orange piece immediately comes to mind) consider a fall portrait session and request the butterfly option. We can tailor your session to create whatever scene that you can think of, the possibilities are endless. Call or email anytime and let's get started!
