Why you've got to check out Seattle!

Colorado is great, the mountains and the changing seasons can't be argued with, but Seattle brings awesome vibes and great times too. Back in September, I visited Seattle for the first time and I can't wait to visit again. If you've never been before, Seattle is one place that you've got to check out! Some of the locations that I was able to shoot portrait sessions at are unforgettable; the variety out there is downright awesome.

I totally loved this park; a dense forest with nothing but texture!

The weather during my trip was amazing; two weeks of clear skies and warm sunny weather. I kept hearing things like, “You're here at the right time” and “Perfect time to visit”. I guess my travels fell during the best time of year. It actually reminded me a lot of Colorado in the summertime. As per my usual, I scheduled my shoots towards the end of the days, right around sunset and with the clear skies, this worked out perfectly. With the days long and the temperature warm, it made for some gorgeous location portrait shoots. If Seattle is on your travel list and a constant downpour of rain and drizzle isn't ideal, September feels like the perfect time to visit.

The people and vibes up there are awesome. It's a great time meeting and working with new people and everything about the city is tons of fun. Much like Colorado, everyone I met was really friendly and nice, a total pleasure when exploring the surrounding cities and parks. The clients I met are great people and had nothing but awesome stories to share about the northwest. I love meeting new people and a portrait session is such a fun experience, we get to swap stories and have a great time all while creating some really cool work together. Before I went, I wasn't much of a coffee drinker; I was pretty sure it was for me. . .Seattle showed me how I was wrong! Since I've been back in Colorado, I find myself enjoying lattes like never before. If you visit, expect to become addicted while checking out the local cafes!

You've got to love fall, with all the changing colors and leaves blowing about.

Looking back, my favorite part of the trip has to be the fantastic locations that I was able to find. The variety from place to place is incredible and it felt like each place ended up being such a unique experience. I love it when clients love the chosen location for our shoot; our images are always that much more fun when the location is great. While searching for awesome places for my clients, I was able to explore and check out a lot of the area while visiting. Locations included a warm and sandy beach, a industrial park with lots of piping, a dense woodsy park wrapping around a cold lake, and a waterside park with lots of falling leaves and winding walkways among others. I know that in the time I was up there, I barely scratched the surface, there is a ton left to explore and enjoy next time I can visit. Put Seattle on your travel list when you have the opportunity, you won't regret it!
